SOFTEAM heavily contributes to standardization activities at the Object Management Group. We are the platform member of OMG with voting rights. For 20 years we worked hard to make UML a reality.
Currently we are involved in several working groups such as SysML, MARTE, UML Testing Profile, SoaML, CloudML and others. On this page we are covering the recent activities within OMG.
Softeam is a supporter on the submission UML Profile for BPMN Processes Request For Proposal.
Architects supporting defense and business communities using a UML-based tool chain would like to use BPMN for modeling processes within that chain. This requires using UML diagrams and BPMN process diagrams seamlessly together, along with an interchange format that can convey the combined usage, within UML tools. The RFP solicits proposals to define a UML profile for BPMN.
The scope of this profile covers elements and relationships in the BPMN that cover Process Modeling and Process Execution conformance types, including the Descriptive, Analytic, and Common Executable conformance sub-classes. Other BPMN conformance types are out of scope for this RFP.

The SysML v1.4 Revision Task Force led by Conrad Bock and Roger Burkhart is continuing to work on proposed improvements to SysML based on feedback from the systems modeling community. Review and discussion occur during regularly scheduled RTF telecons, we are meeting the team today (14 Nov 2012) in telecon at 4 PM CET.
Check all the issue for OMG SysML Revision Task Force at http://www.omg.org/issues/sysml-rtf.open.html!
The SysML 1.4 RTF revision deadline is set to December 21, 2012.
Version 1.3 of SysML had been released on 12 June 2012 as a formal specification by OMG. The 1.3 specification documents, schema files, and other related documents are linked from the page at http://www.omg.org/spec/SysML/1.3/.
SOFTEAM has become an official submitter of the Essence proposal for the FACESEM RFP.
We hope all the best for the Essence and fully support the submission team lead by Brian Elvesater from SINTEF featuring Ivar Jacobson from the SEMAT team.
More on this initiative:
The objective of the RFP (http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?ad/2011-06-26) is to obtain a foundation for the agile creation and enactment of software engineering methods by development practitioners themselves.
This foundation is to consist of a kernel of software engineering domain concepts and relationships that is extensible (scalable), flexible and easy to use, and a domain-specific modeling language that allows developers to describe the essentials of their current and future practices and methods.
These practices and methods can then be supported by tools based on this common foundation, and they can further be composed, simulated, applied, compared, enacted, tailored, used, adapted, evaluated and measured by practitioners as well as taught and researched by academic and research communities.

The purpose of this RFI is to solicit ideas, discussion, comments, recommendations, product information, user needs, and user experiences regarding the modeling of: - test specifications aspects such as test environments, test case specification, test case generation, test data, test objectives etc. - test management aspects such as test processes, test plans, test schedules, test results, roles and responsibilities etc. - test documentation aspects with respect to industry-relevant standards like IEEE:829:2008 [IEEE829] and/or ISO 29119 [ISO29119]. The information of the responses will be ultimately used to - identify the requirements of the industry with respect to test modeling, test generation, test documentation etc, - condense a RFP for a UML Testing Profile 2 specification, and - issue the RFP (hopefully) during the OMG Technical Meeting in June, 2013.

Softeam is involved in the Revision Task Force for preparing version 1.2 of the UML Testing Profile (UTP). We will attend the next Face-to-Face meeting in Zurich on the 10/11th of May 2012. We will largely talk about Test Data modeling.
